Your Credit Union is proud to sponsor its 18th Annual Scholarship Awards Program. New for this year, we’ve added two categories that include digital technology!

Students can enter in one or all three categories if they choose!  Prizes will be awarded as follows:

  • Three prizes of $1,500…for the traditional written essay approach
  • Two prizes of $1,500…for the video-based approach
  • One prize of $500…for the photo-based approach

Topic for
Written Essay:

Explain to a potential new member why young people should join a credit union.

Please limit your essay to 500 words or less. Either mail-in or drop-off your completed essay package to the Towson Branch marked Attn: Scholarship Committee at 23 W. Susquehanna Avenue, Towson, MD 21204. Packages can also be emailed to: Completed packages must be received by the deadline of March 31, 2019. This date is for receipt not postmark. Incomplete packages will not be evaluated.

Note: Proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is a factor in the judging of the written essays.

New Category! Topic for
Video-based approach:

Create a 60 second video-ad promoting the Credit Union that could appear on prospective young members’ social media newsfeed.

Round up friends for actors, scout out locations, and make sure your camera’s battery is charged! Put your best effort into your video; it could be used in our social media efforts! Once you film your video, feel free to edit it however you would like. There is plenty of free editing software available online. After you have finished editing your 60 second video, upload it to YouTube.

Note: Please make sure the video is uploaded as “Private.” To do this, select the “Visibility” tab, and select “Private.” Private videos can only be viewed by people with whom you have shared the video link.

Please email your completed scholarship package (application, attachments, and the YouTube link) to Completed packages must be received by March 31, 2019.

New Category! Topic for
Photo-based approach

Take an original photograph that captures a sense of “Belonging” which is one of the Credit Union’s core characteristics.

Think about how to capture the essence of the theme. Your photo doesn’t have to be directly related to the financial services industry, but it does need to capture the assigned theme. Put your best effort into the photo; it could be used in our social media efforts! It will take as much effort as those who submit essays and videos! Remember, your picture has to be an original photograph. Email the photograph as part of your completed scholarship package (application and attachments) to by March 31, 2019.
