Your Credit Union is proud to sponsor the 2010 Scholarship Awards Program. Under this program, our young adult members have the opportunity to win free money towards their college education. A total of $3,500.00 in prizes is awarded to worthy students!

Each candidate will be asked to demonstrate their knowledge and creativity in an essay regarding a specific topic. The topic for the 2010 Scholarship Awards Program is:

2010 Scholarship Essay Question

Give examples of at least two financial products or services, currently offered by your Credit Union, which can help young adults learn to make smarter financial decisions. What recommendations do you have for the Credit Union to better serve its young members?

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a primary member in good standing with the Baltimore County Employees Federal Credit Union as of November 1, 2009.

• Applicants related to the Official Family (Board, Volunteers, and Employees) are not eligible to enter.

• First-Time College Students: Must be high school seniors at least 16 years of age by the application deadline.

• Returning Students: Must have verification of acceptance/enrollment to a college, university, or trade school for the upcoming school year.

Judging Criteria:

Will be based on the required material listed under Items to Include.

To enroll into the 2010 Scholarship Awards Program, please drop-off or mail-in the completed application package to our Towson branch office.

Note: All materials must be received no later than March 31, 2010.

Other Scholarship Opportunities

CU Foundation of MD & DC. The Foundation is offering $11,000 in scholarship awards to Maryland and District of Columbia credit union members. Ten prizes of $1,000 will be awarded based on the traditional essay approach. An additional $1,000 will be awarded to the winner of their video category. Click here to download an application. The deadline for entries is March 31, 2010.

Education Exchange. If you are a college-bound high school senior graduating in 2010 and a member of the Credit Union, you are eligible to participate. This program offers a total of $50,000 in grants to deserving students across the United States (four $5,000 awards, and thirty $1,000 awards). Applications are available in the lobbies of both offices. The deadline for entries is March 15, 2010.
